Search partners, London notes, prize professionals who combine board-level judgement, the right accreditations, and a track record of delivered outcomes. “The scarce commodity is someone who can walk in, set the strategy, fix the worst gaps, and prove it to a regulator,” he says.

A permanent search can take most of a year; the interim model compresses that to days. “It lets an organisation get senior leadership immediately, then decide on the permanent structure without the risk of a gap,” London explains.
A durable shift
Far from a passing trend, London believes the model is now a permanent part of the market. “Interim and fractional C-suite security leadership has moved from novelty to necessity,” he says. “For many organisations, it is simply how senior cyber leadership is now sourced.”
